Mariano Ferrante  ( 1974, currently living and working in Buenos Aires) 

Bahía Blanca, Argentina, 1974. A self-taught painter since he was 10 years old, he began his training at the Educación Técnica Nº1 school and continued his studies at the visual arts school Martín A. Malharro and at the architecture, urbanism and design school of the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata. In 2000 he moved to Buenos Aires and, since then, he has dedicated himself exclusively to visual arts. During 2003 and 2004 he participated in the contemporary art clinics organised by artist Tulio de Sagastizábal. In 2009 he presented his individual show Persistente conjunto [Persistent Set] at the Zavaleta Lab Arte Contemporáneo gallery in Buenos Aires. During that year, he presented an individual show at the Centro Cultural Recoleta and a mural intervention at the Centro Cultural de España, both cultural centres in Buenos Aires. He obtained a creators' grant in visual arts from the metropolitan fund for culture, art and science of the government of Buenos Aires. During 2010 he was invited to develop a mural intervention at the Ciudad Cultural Konex cultural site (Buenos Aires) and called by Red Galería, a gallery network, to create two mural interventions at the Carlos Pellegrini building in the City of Buenos Aires. That year, he participated in the contemporary art space of Fundación PROA, within the RAM exhibition, where he had his first mural intervention for the series Construcciones dinámicas [Dynamic Constructions]. Through the British Council, he was selected to take part in the project Rivers of the World in Argentina. In 2011, together with Red Galería, he developed a mural intervention for the 20th edition of the ArteBA fair and participated in the exhibition SITE SPECIFIC Dibujo at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires (MAMBA). In 2012 he presented the individual shows Acción en movimiento [Action in Motion] (Zavaleta Lab Arte Contemporáneo) and Elementos. Construcción dinámica N 15-12 [Elements. Dynamic Construction N 15-12] and participated in the exhibitions Geométricos hoy [Geometrical Today] (UADE/MACBA, Buenos Aires) and Nuevas tendencias II [New Trends II] (MAMBA). The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires (MACBA) included his work in its permanent collection. During that year, he was invited by the government of the city of Buenos Aires to show at PINTA, the Modern and Contemporary Latin American Art Show in New York. Additionally, he was selected for the inaugural show of the contemporary space of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Buenos Aires). In March 2013 he inaugurated Dynamic Construction, an individual show at BOSI Contemporary, New York. In early 2015 he had an individual show at the Puerta Roja Contemporary Art gallery, Hong Kong. In Buenos Aires, he inaugurated his individual show in Zavaleta Lab Arte Contemporáneo and participated in the exhibition Cruzar la línea [Crossing the line] at the Fundación ICBC. In the same city, he did Cosmorama, 2009/2015, a site specific which included all the Belgrano E line subway station. In 2016 he began his individual show La resonancia interior [Interior Resonance] in room C of the Centro Cultural Recoleta, one of the most important exhibition rooms of the building and of the city of Buenos Aires. In Tecnópolis –the largest science, art and technology theme park in Latin America– he presented Partitura para exterior N 27/16 [Score for Outside N 27/16], a walkable labyrinth 30 metres wide and 7 metres high. Also in Buenos Aires, he participated in Ensayo general N13 and Diagonal Sur, arte argentino hoy at the Centro Cultural Borges, Sensorial Geometries at the Puerta Roja Contemporary Art gallery (Hong Kong) and the KIAF fairs (Seoul), ArtTo (Toronto). In 2017 he took part in ¿Quién está dónde? Who Is Where?, an art show and residency in Basel, Switzerland. He inaugurated Mirando el mar [Looking at the Sea], an individual show in the 488 Gallery (La Boca, Buenos Aires) and was invited to take part in ColorBA, an urban art festival in public spaces organised by the government of the city of Buenos Aires. In 2018 he participated in Movement, a collective exhibition in the Puerta Roja Contemporary Art gallery, Hong Kong. His works are part of important public and private collections in Argentina and the rest of the world. He lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
